It’s December 1996 and Juli just finished all her classes at the University of Oklahoma for her bachelor's degree in dance. Her parents are on their way up from Arkansas to help move her back home before Christmas. She said goodbye to all her friends and helped her roommate by driving her to the airport early in the morning. Juli goes missing. Her parents show up and quickly her missing case turns into a homicide case, when her body is found later that day. Fast forward 8 years and Anthony Sanchez is found guilty of the crime. But is he responsible? Anthony is scheduled to be executed on September 21, 2023. We discuss the tragic murder of Juli but also the evidence presented that put Anthony on death row. You decide. Is he innocent or guilty? If he is innocent, another young life will be lost.

High in the Sierra Nevada mountains and about an hour drive from Yosemite lies a town that time has forgotten. Bodie, California was once a thriving boom town and home to over 10k people back in the height of the California Gold Rush. It had quite a reputation for lawlessness, daily gunfights and a high amount of bad luck overall. Some would say it was a hard luck town born under a bad sign. So much in fact, that even today, there is a curse still hanging over Bodie. 
You can visit this town, it is a designated California State Park but beware taking back any small souvenirs from this ghost town. There are many stories of the bad luck that comes to those who steal from the ghosts of Bodie…

In 1970s Germany, 16 year old Anneliese Michel began exhibiting disturbing symptoms including blackouts, paralysis, swollen hands, blackened eyes and scary visions. After a long visit to the hospital with no relief in symptoms, her parents became convinced their daughter had been possessed by a demon. 
Anneliese would be subjected to 67 exorcisms that would eventually lead to her death at only 23 years old. Kendra will review all the details of this sad case and we will discuss if we think it was true demon possession, undiagnosed health complications or religious fanaticism that went too far. Could her death have been prevented with more medical intervention? We even have audio from the exorcisms to listen to. This case did eventually land the priests and parents in court for neglectful homicide.

A dark episode but an important discussion! Jessica brings us the unbelievably violent and horrific case of Junko Furuta. Her sadistic perpetrators were four teenage boys. But that was just the beginning. What she endured is beyond anything you can imagine one person being subjected to.
This week, we do not analyze the root cause of why sick people do what they do. Instead, we tell her story to honor her and bring awareness. Her case may be extreme and difficult to listen to, but she is one of the many women and children preyed upon in this world and something must be done. She did not receive justice. She deserves justice. And the millions of those taken whose stories have not been told, deserve our attention.
